6. Mind Your Manners
Be sure to mind your manners, which includes being polite - to everyone, whether it's the casting director (which should be obvious), your competition, or an intern. You never know who's help you'll need in the future. The intern today could be the casting director you audition for tomorrow. And be sure to thank the director at the end of the audition.
7. Know Your Availability
If you realize you'll have a lot of schedule conflicts with rehearsals, and performance dates, do everyone a favor and let the casting director know before you sign the contract. You don't want to burn any bridges before you get your foot in the door.
8. Learn to Accept Criticism
It can be easy to take a note personal. But just remember, the casting agent is on your side. The notes you receive are to help your audition, so don't take it personal. Just listen to the critique, and try your best to adapt to the notes.
9. Show Your Personality
When your nerves are wrecked, showing your personality is easier said than done. It can be hard to be expressive when you're worried about not doing anything wrong. But in casting, personality is just as important as technique and skill. And the director wants to know that you'll bring positive energy into the rehearsal process.
10. Be Confident
Once you've done all your audition prep, and you have your headshots and resume, along with having done your research on the audition, it's time to relax and be confident. Know that you've done everything that you can to prepare, and let your personality shine through to knock em dead! Good luck!
