I was first introduced to the Atlanta Music Project during their startup year here in Atlanta in 2010. But, it wasn't until co-hosting the 2013 Georgia Music Awards Pre-Show, that I finally had a chance to work with them. If you're unfamiliar with the organization, the Atlanta Music Project provides intense music education for underserved youth right in their neighborhood. Inspired by Venezuela’s El Sistema, AMP believes the pursuit of musical excellence leads to the development of confidence, creativity and ambition, thus sparking positive social change in the individuals and the communities we serve.
Along with intense music lessons, AMP also provides multiple performance opportunities for the students at various venues around the city. Most recently, I had the pleasure of attending their annual spring orchestral concert. Held at the W-Midtown's Altitude, the concert was hosted by Walking Dead's Lauren Cohan and conducted by Jose Hernandez-Estrada. Now I know you're wondering how you can get involved, so just settle down. From sponsoring a musician, donating an instrument, or volunteering, there are tons of ways you can get involved. Just click here for more info! And congratulations to the Atlanta Music Project for another fantastic concert!
