This spring, Easter Seal's of North Georgia hosted their 5th Annual Fashion Uncorked at the illustrious 200 Peachtree in downtown Atlanta. For those that missed it, Fashion Uncorked is an annual designer competition and fashion show presented by the Easter Seals of North Georgia. The event serves as a platform for emerging designers to showcase their work, while raising funds to continue providing services to children with disabilities and their families. This year’s Design Theme was wrapped in the “Elements” of Earth, Wind, Fire and Rain. Courtney Hammonds, along with the Design Committee had the difficult task of selecting the 10 Finalists from hundreds of entries, who then went on to be judged on: Elements – Theme and Design, Originality, Construction, and Overall Design. The Fashion Uncorked beneficiary, Easter Seals of North Georgia, is a non-profit organization that has been in existence for almost 100 years, since 1907. Easter Seal’s mission is to help disabled people and their families. It was established by an Ohio-businessman named Edgar Allen after his son was killed in a streetcar accident. The seal, developed in the 30s, was a means to receive charity and the lily on the seal represents resurrection and new life.
“We are a 501c3 non profit that works in the areas of early education, disabilities and special needs. We want our families to live, work, play and grow in our communities. Get involved, donate your time or funds to make a difference in a child's life.” ~Easter Seals of North Georgia.
