Holding steady to the title of Hollywood of the South, Atlanta continues to expand its burgeoning film industry by welcoming Pinewood Studios. Shortly after England's famous Pinewood Shepperton announced plans to open a film studio just south of Atlanta in Fayette County, plans and construction began to initially include at least 5 sound stages and eventually, more than 70 acres of managed back lot space. The project, which will come to be known as Pinewood Atlanta, will sit upon some 288 acres and is scheduled to open January 2014.
