After a big event for Aloha Atlanta Saturday night, the last thing I felt like doing was rolling out of the bed the next morning to workout. But I actually managed to peel myself off the sheets to get over to Define Atlanta for their opening preview classes. Invited by alumni Starlet, Honey B, I didn't want to miss out - and boy, was it worth it! With great instructors & a modern and serene studio, I'm definitely looking forward to getting back to the new studio. Check out the highlights below. Arriving to the midtown location, the early fall breeze provided the perfect backdrop with sunlight streaming through the studio windows. I started with the Define Body class that combined barre, yoga, and small weights for an intense workout that gave me an instant love/hate feeling for the instructor, Henry - who happens to be the Define Body owner. One of the great things about Henry's teaching style is that he's gentle, but he doesn't let you phone it in - which I quickly realized the moment I tried to coast it. It hurt like hell. But results take work, so I was grateful to be pushed (the gratitude didn't kick in until after the workout though.)
Feeling accomplished from surviving an amazing workout, I decided to stick around for Define Mind taught by Define Atlanta's co-owner, Erin - which was an inversion class. I was skeptical about whether I'd be able to keep up with the pace of the class, but the instructor was great at teaching newbies, and had me off my feet and upside down in no time. The class combined a hammock and a small medicine ball for a workout that was both soothing and restorative. And with the combination of the two classes, I left feeling like I was ready to take on the world - after eating a big brunch of course.
