The shift from summer to fall is usually a refreshing treat from the sweltering air of the warmer months. And like the trees hunkering down to rest, the change in seasons is a great time for us for self reflection, a slower pace, and self care. This transitional period is a great chance to allow more time for mindfulness and self awareness. Its time to revitalize! We were so honored to be invited to participate in revitalize, mindbodygreen's invite-only annual event bringing together wellness leaders and inspiring people who shape our world. Although we won't be able to attend (*insert bucket of tears), we will be in Arizona in spirit with the #revitalize2016 guide. So in preparation of fall, we're sharing our top tips for revitalizing the mind, body, and soul. We also have a link to the #revitalize2016 guide for anyone who want to try it at home. Plus you'll find one of our favorite playlists for meditating, napping, and general attitude adjustments. If you like what we're throwing down, be sure to LIKE or SHARE on Facebook or Twitter! Namaste. :)
Revitalize | Mind:
The start of every dream begins with an intention. And the key to mindfulness is all about setting intentions. To get where you want to go, you have to think about how you're going to get there. And setting intentions helps to create clarity to help you achieve those goals. Deepak Chopra says, "An intention is a directed impulse of consciousness that contains the seed form of that which you aim to create. Like real seeds, intentions can’t grow if you hold on to them. Only when you release your intentions into the fertile depths of your consciousness can they grow and flourish." Want to live a more authentic life? Try setting an intention for the day while meditating. Mindbodygreen also has a great post for setting intentions to create an authentic life.
Revitalize | Body:
If you can't make it to #revitalize2016, you can still take steps to revitalize your body through exercise and clean eating by starting with a detox. The benefits of a detox are numerous from energy boosting, cleansing toxins from the body, clearer thinking, and anti-aging benefits. And, eating healthy can be fun! We can't wait to try this Bell Pepper Taco Skillet Recipe we found in the #revitalize2016 guide! Once you're eating cleaner, it'll be time to use that supercharged body for some physical activity. Whether you prefer the gym, yoga, or the outdoors, we don't have to tell you the benefits of working out. But if you're looking for a soothing class focused on gaining flexibility, refreshing the body and calming the mind, Define Body & Mind's Hammock class will change your life by helping to melt away stress and relieve tightness in the muscles.
Revitalize | Soul:
Revitalizing for fall is all about taking the time to nurture our mind, body and souls. And one surprising way to revitalize the soul is to clean and purify your home. Bacteria, mold, dust, and dander cause everything from allergies to asthma. Regular cleaning significantly lowers the potential for sickness. And both the act of cleaning and maintaining a clean house can help relieve and prevent unnecessary stress. Once you get the house nice and tidy, its time to head outdoors! Spending time in nature has amazing benefits. A study performed by researchers at the University of Essex found that taking a walk in nature lowered the depression scores in 71 percent of participants. Nature sounds also seem to have a salutary effect on stress recovery, which is why you'll find our Naturescapes playlist included below. Let us know what you think!
